Tasting Notes: The 2009 Barbera commences with aromas of Cola nut laced with a hint of anise. As the wine opens up black cherries, ripe plums, and huckleberry jam fall into the lovely nose. There is also just the slightest sweet whisper of ground coriander seed. On the palate the cola nut is joined by hints of bakers’ cocoa and a bit of vanilla, then comes a huge impression of hibiscus, then pomegranate juice, ripe raspberries, and fresh cranberries bounce around your palate with very nicely balanced acidity. This is a fantastic wine to pair with artisan salami, and nice creamy cheeses.
