The floral notes on the nose of this wine are tremendous. They are sweet and savory and everything in between. There are light impressions of sage and mint on the nose, mixed berry compote, candied chestnuts and a hint of tamarind with a final impression of pencil lead or graphite. These old vineyards (26 years old) have done it again. Even with the challenge of a cool growing season they managed to give the fruit a depth and complexity found in few wines from the 2011 vintage. Flavors of tamarind, bakers cocoa, and dried blueberries perfectly compliment the ripe tannin structure on the palate. OK I’m a big fan of well-prepared game bird and this wine is a perfect partner for a rich squab dish. Pan roasted squab with tamarind infused pan jus sauce served with butter, poached and seared fingerling potatoes and grilled spring asparagus MMM, GOOD!!141 Cases produced
