I must say that our Sangiovese vineyards have absolutely loved these warm growing seasons. 2012 was a great year for Sangiovese and 2013 most definitely followed suit. On the nose, tart pie cherries introduce the wine, then come macerated raspberries finished with earthy notes of dusty black tea leaves. The palate offers a very clean and elegant lighter bodied red wine. Aroma and texture is classic Sangiovese. The palate commences with flavors of pie cherries then moves into cranberries, earthy notes of tea leaves and finishes with flavors of fresh raspberries laced with a hint of barrel toast.
Once again this wine is ripe for being paired with a delicious wood fired pizza. A platter filled with different types of Salumi and hard cheeses would be fantastic as well.
