The nose of our 2016 Chardonnay commences with beautiful tropical aromas of mango and grilled pineapple. This is followed by impressions of kiwi fruit which lead into sweet citrus note of Navel oranges and Sweetheart tangerines. The palate most definitely leads with flavors of grilled pineapple, then flows into hints of orange creamsicle (a flashback to my youth when I would chased the ice cream truck as it went singing by on my neighborhood street in Los Angeles) to compliment the kiwi fruit and bits of mango that were also encountered on the nose. The mid-palate creaminess from the partial malo-lactic fermentation transitions perfectly to a nice crisp finish. The grilled pineapple that shows up throughout is begging to be paired with the real deal so I would try this wine with shrimp and grits accompanied with freshly grilled pineapple spears.
