Tempranillo has been one of my favorite wines to advocate for as a wine that grows well in Washington and this 2015 Tempranillo is no exception.
Aroma: The nose starts off with aromas of sweet tobacco and Earl Grey tea. Dark blackberry and blueberry are complimented with sweet earthy aromas of dried currants, dates, and anise.
Taste: The dark fruits are more prevalent on the palate than they were in the aromatics. There is a sweet earthiness in the wine as it hangs out on the palate bringing on the impressions of tobacco and Earl Grey tea and finishing with a lingering flavor of dates that sticks around long after you have swallowed the wine.
Food Pairing: Grilled pork tenderloin topped with date and blackberry compote would pair wonderfully with this wine.
