Our 2014 Syrah just wants to jump out of the glass aromatically. Hearty aromas of cedar box, pencil lead and cocoa nibs give way to ripe dark fruit aromas of macerated cherries and plum compote. There is a gentle hint of honeysuckle florality contributed by the 5% addition of Viognier as a co-ferment (co-ferment – when two different varieties of grapes are fermented together).
The palate is equally powerful on our 2014 Syrah with all of the aromas I found on the nose hitting the palate so incredibly harmoniously leaving a long lingering finish of macerated cherries and cocoa nibs.
Pepper crusted flank steak smothered with a cherry-Syrah reduction would be amazing with this wine.
