Our Riesling in the 2016 vintage delivered some beautiful subtle aromatics. Granny Smith apples, Key limes, and starfruit move into a lovely mineral aroma of wet river stones. There is a great balance on the palate of fruit, sweetness, minerality and a crisp, refreshing acidity. Those Granny Smith apples lead the way and hang out throughout the flavor experience allowing other flavors of key lime pie, starfruit and even a hint of guava to sneak in as a wonderful flavor attack. Although the wine initiates with aperceptible sweetness the acidity comes in and lets the wine finish crisp and refreshing without any hint of sweetness. Riesling is a champ to pair with cheeses.
This one would be amazing paired with thinly sliced Granny Smith apples topped with a sweet Gorgonzola cheese. I also love this wine with spicy Thai dishes, especially yellow curry!!
