The nose of the 2016 Sauvignon Blanc kicks off with notes of stone fruits, particularly apricots. Boxwood and fresh cut grass move into the aroma profile, along with lemon curd and just a hint of fresh cut mango. The palate is supple and round, hanging on your taste buds long after you’ve swallowed the wine. Again, stone fruits start things out with an even flavor mix of fresh apricots and nectarines. The palate also offers some lovely flavors of lemon curd and candied lime zest, while finishing off with intense flavors of ruby red grapefruit.
As for food pairing, this wine is a natural with oysters on the half shell, clam steamers with a nice herb butter broth, or seared diver scallops. As an appetizer, this wine would be awesome served with a nice creamy cow’s milk cheese on a crostini with a little dollop of apricot preserves.
