Despite a very cool and wet spring, with moisture that lingered into the early summer, our 2017 white wines turned out beautifully. This Sauvignon Blanc is happy to show itself off!
Aroma: Right at the initial nose this expressive wine shows notes typical of Washington State Sauvignon Blanc. There are hints of grapefruit and mixed citrus right next to aromas that hint at a bit of grassiness and boxwood akin to a New Zealand style Sauvignon Blanc. However, this wine is still 100% Washington in all of its expression.
Taste: The palate commences with citrus and stone fruit. The stone fruit offers flavors of lean tart nectarines. The citrus is that of a Ruby Red grapefruit and a bit of kumquats. The perfect acidity gives this wine a wonderful longevity on the palate.
Food Pairing: This is still my go to wine with oysters on the half shell or a beautiful bowl of steamed clams with a white wine, herb butter broth and a crusty baguette.
